  • Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program

    The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is part of a highly concentrated effort to improve the flow of new, highly skilled technical labor into the Department of Defense (DoD). The purpose is to promote the education, recruitment and retention of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in science, mathematics and engineering studies; the DoD is also interested in supporting the education of future scientists and engineers in a number of interdisciplinary areas. SMART Scholars are awarded an annual stipend, full tuition, required fees, health insurance and up to $1000 book allowance per year. The SMART Program will allow individuals to acquire an education in exchange for a period of employment with the Department of Defense. The program is intended for citizens of the United States; students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of award.
  • Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship

    The Faculty for the Future Fellowship awards fellowships for advanced research in STEM at leading research institutes abroad. Faculty for the Future Fellows are expected to return to their home countries upon completion of their studies to contribute to the economic, social and technological advancement of their home regions by strengthening the STEM teaching and research faculties of their home institutions as well as through their leadership in science-based entrepreneurship. They are also expected to contribute to the public sector where their newly acquired technical and scientific skills can help provide evidence-based support for STEM policy making, including topics of gender representation.
  • The Quad Fellowship

    The Quad Fellowship sponsors 100 exceptional American, Japanese, Australian and Indian master’s and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to study in the United States. The fellowship was designed to develop a network of science and technology experts committed to advancing innovation and collaboration in the private, public and academic sectors, in their own nations and among Quad countries. The program builds a foundational understanding among Quad Scholars of one another’s societies and cultures through cohort-wide trips and robust programming with each country’s top scientists, technologists and politicians.
  • Presidential Management Fellows Program

    The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is the federal government’s premier leadership development program for advanced degree (Master’s, PhD, JD) students/recent alums across all academic disciplines and from all segments of society. The PMF Program is a prestigious two-year fellowship at a federal agency with full salary and benefits, exciting training and development opportunities, and a senior-level mentor, all of which can lead to a permanent career in government.
  • Presidential Fellowships

    The UB Presidential Fellowship Program helps to fund outstanding graduate students. To be eligible, a nominee must be a new applicant to a PhD program and must be fully funded, including a teaching, graduate or research assistant. Nominees must also have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.40 or higher upon admission.
  • Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship

    The Point Flagship Scholarship empowers LGBTQ students to access and succeed in their education at accredited four-year institutions in the United States. Flagship scholarship recipients receive financial support, access to multiple leadership development programs, mentorship or coaching, and the support of a community of scholars and alumni.
  • PRODiG Fellowship

    The State University of New York (SUNY) has created a Comprehensive College Consortium to fund late-stage pre-doctoral (ABD) and post-doctoral students interested in exploring academic careers. The consortium represents a collaboration among all SUNY comprehensive sector campuses. The initiative creates a more robust pathway into the academy for historically under-represented minority faculty and women in STEM fields. The PRODiG Fellowship Initiative is a model program designed to raise the pace of degree completion and build a more robust pipeline to the professoriate. Personalized mentoring is a key component of the program to develop fellows' pedagogical readiness for future faculty appointments in addition to support for their scholarship and research.
  • P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

    The International Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. 
  • Native Forward Scholars Fund

    Native Forward Scholars Fund offers more than 30 scholarships and fellowships that fund undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree-seeking students. Awards can vary, ranging from $100 to $30,000 per academic year.
  • National Science Foundation Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences Program Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Awards (HEGS-DDRI)

    The objective of the Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences Program is to support basic scientific research about the nature, causes and/or consequences of the spatial distribution of human activity and/or environmental processes across a range of scales. Contemporary geographical research is an arena in which diverse research traditions and methodologies are valid. Recognizing the breadth of the field's contributions to science, the HEGS Program welcomes proposals for empirically grounded, theoretically engaged, and methodologically sophisticated, generalizable research in all sub-fields of geographical and spatial sciences.
