  • Institute for Citizens and Scholars Teaching Fellowship

    The Institute for Citizens and Scholars Teaching Fellowship seeks to attract talented, committed individuals with backgrounds in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields into teaching in high-need secondary schools in Pennsylvania.
  • Institute for Citizens and Scholars Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s Studies
    5/13/25
    The Institute for Citizens and Scholars Dissertation Fellowships in Women’s Studies support the final year of dissertation writing for PhD. Candidates in the humanities and social sciences whose work addresses topics of women and gender in interdisciplinary and original ways. In each round, 10 fellows will receive $5,000 to be used for expenses connected with completing their dissertations, such as research-related travel, data work/collection and supplies.
  • Innovation in Buildings (IBUILD) Graduate Research Fellowship

    The Innovation in Buildings (IBUILD) Graduate Research Fellowship is a program managed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory. There is a diversity gap in STEM (including building science), meaning that certain groups are underrepresented or have been historically excluded from STEM fields. These groups include, but are not limited to, those based on race, ethnicity, and gender — and this gap needs to be addressed. As part of the next generation of building science thought leaders and researchers, IBUILD Fellows have a unique opportunity to influence this industry. The fellowship will strengthen the pool of well-trained, diverse MS and PhD scholars who are equipped for research-intensive building technologies careers across all sectors. IBUILD Fellows will receive research and educational support to conduct innovative, building science-related research at their home institution in an area with demonstrated relevance to building energy efficiency.  In addition to funding high-quality research, the fellowship will provide professional development, mentoring, networking, and support for internship opportunities.

  • Humanities Institute Advanced PhD Fellowship

    Fellows meet in monthly works-in-progress seminars to gain interdisciplinary perspectives on their research. Each department in the humanities, broadly defined, may nominate up to two candidates for the Fellowships, as selected by the department’s Director of Graduate Studies.
  • Humane Studies Fellowship

    The Humane Studies Fellowship is awarded to current or future students in PhD programs. It is a renewable, non-residency award of up to $15,000 per year. This award is intended for graduate students with an interest in developing, teaching and applying classical liberal ideas and the principles of a free society.
  • History of Science Fellowships

    The Beckman Center offers fellowships on an annual cycle for scholars doing research in the history and social studies of chemistry and related sciences, technologies, and industries. Fellows are expected to participate in biweekly informal writing groups and give at least one lunchtime lecture. They also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of outreach activities while in residence at the Institute. About 20 fellowships are given out annually, making the Beckman Center the largest private fellowship program in the history of science in the U0S.

Celebrating 60 years in 2017, the Hertz Fellowship is the most exclusive fellowship program in the world. The Hertz Foundation is the only organization in the United States that supports PhD candidates for a full five years at one of the Foundation’s numerous partner institutions and grants students total research freedom, ensuring that each Fellow is able to pursue the most compelling, cutting-edge research.

  • Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) Foundation Fellowships
    5/13/25
    The GWIS National Fellowships Program offers fellowships to help increase knowledge in the natural sciences and to encourage research careers in the sciences by women. Each year they distribute approximately $50,000 in fellowships funds to five deserving women scientists.
