Program Overview

The ISS Summer Connections Series is a dynamic summer-long program designed to keep UB international students engaged, connected, and supported while classes are out of session for the Summer. This series offers a mix of social gatherings and activities. Whether you're staying on campus for the summer or just looking to build your community, this series is your space to thrive, make friends, and explore new opportunities.

Who Should Participate

Currently enrolled international students who are enrolled in classes at UB over the summer and/or will be enrolled in classes at UB for the Fall 2025 semester.

The ISS Summer Connections Series is not intended for international students who are graduating at the end of the Spring 2025 semester, including international students who are in their 60-day grace period, are waiting to start OPT, or have started OPT.

Hello Summer, Hello Friends

Kick-off to our summer series. Stop by to learn more about our 2025 ISS Summer Connections Series, meet other students who will be staying in Buffalo this summer, and enjoy some yummy summer treats. While here, be sure to sign up for the other summer activities that we have planned.

Hike at Whirlpool State Park

Join us for a hike along the Niagara River, including the opportunity to check out the Devil’s Hole Whirlpool.  Afterwards, we will take a short drive into the Village of Lewiston and stop at restaurant (for those who want to buy lunch), and visit the Freedom Crossing Monument. Transportation provided.

Each session features a mix of games, music, activities, snacks, and conversation starters. Whether you're looking to make friends, take a break from academics, or simply enjoy good vibes with good people, The Social Spot is your go-to hangout.

Midsummer Celebration

One of Sweden’s most popular holidays, Midsummer celebrates the arrival of summer and its warmth and light. The heart of Midsummer celebrations brings together family, friends, and even strangers to connect (or re-connect) and celebrate the longest day of the year (June 21 – Summer Solstice). Join us at our first ISS Midsummer Celebration as we mark the official start to summer while enjoying food, fun, crafts, and games.  

Garden Walk Buffalo

Buffalo blooms in the summer.  Recognized as America’s largest garden tour, join us for a walking tour and enjoy the magical gardens and beautiful landscaping surprises that come to life throughout Buffalo. Transportation provided.
